In
2002 - 2003 Dennis was Artistic Director for Western Michigan’s Cherry
County Playhouse. Continuing the theatre's "star system"
tradition, productions included Sandy Duncan in Oklahoma, Peter Scolari
in Barnum, Eddie Mekka in Guys and Dolls and John Davidson in
Chicago. Dennis directed both Oklahoma and Guys and
Dolls.
Although the season was an artistic and box office success, the theatre
company was forced to close its doors due to failed negotiations with
the theatre owners.Since 1986, Dennis has Directed/ Choreographed for Off-Broadway, in Regional Theatres, Universities, Dinner Theatres and Summer Stock across the U.S. and Canada. In 2000 Dennis directed and choreographed the Off-Broadway musical Dressing Room. He also staged and choreographed the 30th Anniversary Tour of Mame starring Morgan Brittany of “Dallas” fame. Dennis has more than 20 years of experience as a professional Actor, Dancer, and Singer on Broadway, Television and in Film. On Broadway, he appeared in the revival of Finian’s Rainbow (with Frank McHugh and Nancy Dussault), Irene (with Debbie Reynolds & Jane Powell) and the legendary A Chorus Line. In 1981 he had the honor of performing with the Broadway Co. of A Chorus Line at the White House for President Reagan. He worked with and learned from the best, like Michael Bennett, Gower Champion, Sir John Gielgud, Peter Gennaro and Ron Field to name a few. At the age twenty he toured in the National Company of Hello Dolly starring Betty Grable. He was seen weekly on “The Red Skelton Show” and “The Carol Burnett Show” and has many “soap” appearances and national commercials to his credit. He appeared in several films, such as New York, New York, Bedknobs and Broomsticks, Annie, Puff n’ Stuff. Born and educated in New Orleans, Dennis continued his professional training in New York City in1966. He studied acting at the famous HB Studios in Greenwich Village and the Film Actor’s Workshop at Columbia Films Studios in Los Angeles.
